JUDY SLAUGHTER v. BLARNEY CASTLE OIL CO., Manistee County Circuit Court. Successfully defended company in a personal injury case before a jury against claims of permanent disability by a customer claiming to have been injured on its premises.
IN RE TRADE PARTNERS, INC., QUILLING v. TRADE PARTNERS, INC.; US District Court, Western District of Michigan and related mass action in Kent County Circuit Court. Litigated a putative class action, and eventual mass action lawsuit, involving more than 1,300 plaintiffs arising out of the failure of an investment firm with a portfolio exceeding $200 million. Sarah and the litigation team negotiated a complex but favorable settlement for her client.
Sarah has argued multiple times at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits. She scored a rare win in an appeal she argued in a prisoner civil rights case, obtaining a reversal of the trial court decision that it lacked personal jurisdiction. Howard v. Whitbeck.
Sarah has handled more than 20 matters in Michigan appellate courts, including a rare, partial reversal of a trial court denial of attorney fees. Day v. HME, Inc.
